Bonding

Bonding tooth-colored composite resin material is a conservative way to repair slightly chipped teeth. A tooth-colored filling is placed onto your tooth to improve its appearance and strengthen a chipped edge. The filling “bonds” with your teeth, and because it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades, it closely matches the appearance of your natural teeth.

Bonded fillings can be used on front and back teeth depending on the location and extent of tooth decay. Many patients prefer bonded fillings because the white color is much less noticeable than the silver amalgam fillings. We use bonded composite fillings on back teeth when patients prefer, when possible.

Bonded composite can stain and is easier to break than other cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers. For significant wear, spacing, or cosmetic enhancement, we work with our dental laboratory to create bonded porcelain crowns or veneers that are strong, longer lasting, and beautifully natural in appearance.
